The RC Wingers, a radio control flying club, will be sponsoring a warbird and giant antique fly-in at the group’s flying facility, 429 Patterson Farm Road, Mooresville.

All warbirds are welcome, along with planes and helicopters. This year, they will also be including vintage aircraft.

The event will be on Oct. 20 from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. with a pilot’s meeting at 9 a.m. There is a pilot landing fee of $15, and pilots must be a current AMA member.

A barbecue lunch will be available onsite for purchase at a cost of $10.

The public is invited and welcome to come to the field and watch the RC planes and helicopters fly and see them on display. There is no cost to come and watch the event.

This event would also be an opportunity for those interested in joining or knowing more about how to begin in this hobby, including drones, to watch the fly-in and speak with club members.

According to the chartered group’s website, the “RC Wingers club was established in 1987 and has grown from several guys with some planes to many aviation enthusiasts participating in a broad spectrum of the hobby including aircraft, helicopters, multi-rotor, gliders, etc. The group’s flying facility includes a grass runway, three sun shelters with electrical outlets, a large pit area, and plenty of open sky to fly in.”
