An Alexander County man was seriously injured and another is facing charges after a stabbing Monday night.
A 20-year-old Taylorsville man was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center Main in Charlotte and is listed in serious condition. He had multiple stab wounds in head and neck, Alexander County Sheriff Chris Bowman said in a press release.
Jonathan Andrew Johnson, 19, of Taylorsville was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury. Bond was set at $250,000. His first appearance is set for Monday.
Bowman said deputies answered a call around 8:16 p.m. regarding a possible stabbing on Liledoun Road, Taylorsville.
He said a man was found in the road and he told officials that he and Johnson got into an altercation at Johnson’s residence and he was stabbed. He told authorities he left the home. Deputies found him north of the home, Bowman said in the release.
Deputies, officers from the Taylorsville Police Department and troopers from the N.C. Highway Patrol administered first aid to the man until Alexander EMS arrived.
Bowman expressed appreciation to the Taylorsville Police Department, Alexander EMS, highway patrol, first responders and fire and rescue personnel for their assistance.
