A Stony Point man is facing drug charges after Alexander County authorities found methamphetamine and marijuana during a search, said Alexander Sheriff Chris Bowman.
Billy Jay Blankenship, 57, was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He received a $10,000 secured bond from a magistrate.
Bowman gave the following account of the events leading to Blankenship’s arrest:
Around 5:30 p.m. the Alexander Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team and an Iredell County Sheriff’s Office K9 unit served a search warrant at Blankenship’s home on Linker Lane. A gram of methamphetamine, five ounces of marijuana, various pieces of drug paraphernalia and $500 in cash were found.
Bowman expressed his appreciation to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office and its K9 for assistance in this case.
