A Crouse man was arrested Wednesday in connection with the theft of money from an elderly Lincoln County man.
Clinton Duwayne Rucker, Jr., 41, of Otto Reynolds Road, Crouse was charged with eight felony counts of identity theft, one count of resist, delay and obstruct a public officer and parole violation. He received a $51,500 secured bond on all but the parole violation charge. He was ordered held without bond in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center on that charge.
On Oct 15, an elderly man told deputies that he had received a letter from his bank informing him that his credit cards may have been used fraudulently. The man told officers that he has people come to his residence to take care of him and transport him on various shopping trips.
Rucker was associated with one of the caregivers and is suspected of having stolen the credit card numbers. Over the period of Aug. 28 through Oct. 12 more than $1,400 was charged to his credit cards, authorities said.
Detective D. Houser handled the investigation.
