A Charlotte woman faces charges after a boating incident on Lake Norman resulted in a man losing his foot, officials with the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission said.
Around 8 p.m. Wednesday, Area Sgt. Ron Robertson said a man wakeboarding on Lake Norman was struck by a boat as the driver circled around to pick him up. The impact amputated the man’s right foot and severely injured his left foot, Robertson said.
The victim was transported to Atrium Health’s Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, Wildlife Enforcement Officer Allen Vang said. He said he charged a 25-year-old woman with misdemeanor careless/reckless boating, and cited her for not completing a boating safety certification course.
Authorities said that the victim was in good condition as of Thursday.
