A traffic stop led to drug charges for a Mooresville teen.
Matthew Arthur Decker, 18, of Greenhill Lane, Mooresville was charged with felony possession with intent to sell or deliver synthetic cannabinoid, felony possession of synthetic cannabinoid, felony naintain a vehicle to sell controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia.
Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Deputy W. Goforth and other deputies were conducting a driver’s license check in the area of Brawley School and Chuckwood Road, according to Sheriff Darren Campbell, when Decker was stopped.
According to Campbell, this is how events unfolded:
While Decker was handing over his license, Goforth saw in plain view a homemade marijuana smoking pipe. His vehicle was searched and deputies located marijuana in the center console of the vehixle, along with 35 THC vape capsules.
Decker was arrested and taken to the Iredell County Detention Center, where he was charged. He was issued a $5,000 bond by a magistrate.
