Investigators with the Violent Crime Unit found shell casings in the 700 block of Newbern Avenue. Based on information obtained during the investigation Terry was identified as the person responsible, police said.
Investigators believe that Terry also fired a weapon in that area several hours before the shooting incident, reports indicate.
Police said warrants for his arrest were filed the day of the shooting.
State records show that Terry has a criminal record involving larceny, possessing stolen goods, drug possession, drug trafficking, reckless driving, resisting an officer, DWI and identity fraud.
