A Statesville man faces multiple charges related to theft in connection to vehicle break-ins from late July, the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office stated in a news release.
Scotty Eugene Shoemaker Sr., 51, of Shoemaker Farm Road, was charged with felony counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle, obtaining property by false pretenses and misdemeanor larceny from a motor vehicle.
Shoemaker received a $20,000 bond when appearing before a magistrate.
On July 29, the sheriff’s office received a report of a vehicle break-in on Brookhaven Road, Campbell said. He estimated the value of items taken from the vehicle at more than $500.
Detective Sgt. Wesley Gregory with the Criminal Investigation Division investigated the incident and received information regarding some of the stolen property being found at a local business, the release stated.
Gregory was able to recover a generator valued at $100 and Shoemaker was identified as a suspect after gathering witness statements and other evidence, according to the release.
Warrants were taken out on Shoemaker and served on Aug. 12.
He has a criminal history involving DWI, breaking and entering, drug possession, fleeing arrest and multiple traffic charges, according to the release.
Shoemaker is due in district court for the charges on Sept. 3.
