A 32-year-old man, being sought as one of the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office’s Most Wanted Persons, was arrested Friday and is suspected of being responsible for at least five thefts of all-terrain vehicles.

Joshua Rick Bass of Mocksville faces four counts of larceny of a motor vehicle and one count each of larceny of a firearm, breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, forgery/possession of a counterfeit instrument and misdemeanor obstructing/resisting/delaying a law enforcement officer. A magistrate set bond at $83,000.

Iredell Sheriff Darren Campbell said, in a press release, that deputies were in the Duck Creek Road area Friday and were trying to find Bass. He said they spotted Bass riding a four-wheeler on Skyuka Road headed toward Moose Club Road.

Deputies tried to stop Bass but he avoided them by driving the four-wheeler off-road and into some trails in a wooded area, Campbell said in the release. After pursuing Bass through the trails, deputies caught him and took him into custody without further incident.

A check of the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the four-wheeler revealed it had been reported stolen June 5.

Bass was then charged with the original warrants that landed him on the most wanted list as well as those in connection with the four-wheeler thefts, Campbell said in the release.

On Saturday, deputies went to the Iredell County Detention Center to serve Bass with additional warrants for felony fleeing to elude from the evening before, Campbell said.

While in the magistrate’s office, Campbell said, Bass became belligerent, resisting deputies’ commands and screaming. Because of his actions, the release stated, Bass was then charged with resisting arrest and an additional $50,000 bond was added.

Bass’ criminal history includes larceny, possession of Schedule I, larceny after breaking and entering, possession of heroin, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and misdemeanor charges of harassing telephone calls, larceny, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana, the release stated.
