A woman was recently arrested near Harmony for larceny and outstanding charges following a report of a stolen car, the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office stated in a news release.
On Friday, Taysa Marie Lovelace, 25, of East Bend, North Carolina, was charged with felony larceny of a motor vehicle and served an outstanding warrant for felony possession of stolen property. She received a $30,000 secured bond when appearing before a magistrate.
Sheriff Darren Campbell said a deputy answered a call Friday concerning the theft of a motor vehicle in the 2600 block of Sandy Springs Road near Harmony.
The deputy spoke with the vehicle's owner, who told the deputy she’d been contacted about her car being parked outside a business in the 2100 block of Sandy Springs Road, the release stated.
The deputy found the vehicle unoccupied and unlocked with the keys inside, the release stated. Campbell said two witnesses identified the suspect as Lovelace, and told the deputy she was still inside the store. The deputy went inside and found Lovelace and took her into custody, the release said. It was discovered that Lovelace had an outstanding warrant from Stokes County, the release states.
The stolen vehicle was returned to the owner by deputies.
The release added Lovelace has a criminal history involving misdemeanor possession of stolen goods, three counts of misdemeanor larceny, misdemeanor aid and abetting misdemeanor larceny and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
She is due in district court Sept. 9.
