A Statesville teenager faces charges related to robbery and shooting into occupied property from a reported incident in early May.
Eighteen-year-old Chakrisis La’richard Ramseur was arrested June 7 and charged with felony robbery with firearms or other dangerous weapons, discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling/moving vehicle and misdemeanor discharging firearms within city limits. He received a $100,000 secured bond from a magistrate.
Statesville Police Chief David Addison said in an email Friday that Ramseur, of Hill Terrace, was involved in an armed robbery of a person operating a vehicle on Wilson Lee Boulevard. He did not say in which block the incident took place.
Warrants state the incident occurred May 9.
Ramseur is accused of threatening the victim with a black semi-automatic handgun, and took $10 in cash and a cell phone from the person, warrants indicate.
The victim approached the suspect asking why he robbed him and the suspect then shot at the vehicle; the victim was not injured, Addison said.
Warrants said Ramseur fired into a 2001 Ford Explorer, but did not specify how many shots were fired.
Court documents show Ramseur’s attorney filed for a reduced bond June 14, citing the defendant cannot afford bond and is maintaining his innocence.
The bond hearing is scheduled for June 26.
