A 24-year-old Stony Point man pointed a shotgun at officers and had to be forcibly taken into custody, said Alexander County Sheriff Chris Bowman.
Ethan Scott Young was charged with four counts of felony assault with a deadly weapon on law enforcement officers and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. A magistrate set bond at $750,000.
Bowman, in a news release, said deputies went to a home on Tall Oaks Lane, Stony Point, around 3:30 p.m. Friday to investigate a 911 call about a man firing a weapon inside the home.
Bowman said Young was barricaded inside the residence and had a shotgun, which he pointed at officers. No shots were fired, Bowman said.
Deputies talked with Young, who laid the shotgun down but reached for it again, Bowman said. At that point deputies forcibly detained him, the sheriff added.
