An Alexander County juvenile was charged with attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill, according to Alexander County Sheriff Chris Bowman.
The charges stem from an incident earlier in the week.
On Wednesday afternoon, officers received a 911 call concerning a stabbing on Wood Road off of Three Forks Church Road. Officers arrived on the scene and discovered a 39-year-old white male suffering from several stab wounds to the area of the chest, according to a news release.
Authorities said witnesses informed them the 14-year-old fled the scene before officers arrived.
Officers established a perimeter along with the N.C. Highway Patrol, Taylorsville Police Department and Probation and Parole officers, Bowman said.
The Alexander County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit and the NC Department of Public Safety blood hound K-9 also assisted in the search, the release stated.
Around 6:23 p.m. on Wedneday, officers found the juvenile in a wooded area near the scene of the stabbing; the juvenile was arrested without incident, according to the release. EMS was also at the scene to survey the physical wellbeing of the juvenile.
