The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a man was found dead in a yard early Saturday morning. An investigation revealed two additional men had gone to a Statesville emergency room with gunshot wounds.
Officers were called to an address in Woodleaf around 3:50 a.m. Saturday to check on a report of a man who was dead in the yard, a news release stated. Robin Otto Worth Jr., 35, of Grubb Ferry Road in Salisbury, was found dead of an apparent gunshot wound.
Criminal investigation detectives with the department began an investigation. A news release stated that this is how the events unfolded:
A search warrant was executed for an address in the 5000 block of Foster Road. The detectives gathered evidence and statements from people in the area at the time of the incident.
They determined an exchange of gunfire had occurred at the address.
Detectives also discovered that near midnight, two men with gunshot wounds came to an emergency room in Statesville. The men were identified as Daquan and Ronnie Martin, but were uncooperative with hospital staff as to how they had been shot, the sheriff’s department release stated.
Detective suspect they are linked to the investigation. Both of the men were sent to the Wake Forest Baptist Hospital for surgery and their condition is not known at this time.
