The Iredell-Statesville Schools Board of Education announced Diana Jones as the new principal of North Iredell High School at Monday night’s board meeting.

Jones, currently the principal at Central Elementary School, will become principal effective July 1. She will finish the school year at Central before replacing Teresa Hays at North Iredell this summer.

Jones began her career in Iredell-Statesville Schools in 1999 as a second-grade teacher at Northview Elementary School before moving to Yadkin County to serve as an assistant principal from 2003-2009.

She was appointed principal of Courtney Elementary School and served there until becoming the principal at Central Elementary in 2013.

According to Superintendent Brady Johnson, Jones’ tenure at Central has been highly successful. Among other successes, 100 percent of the teachers at Central have met or exceeded growth for three consecutive years.

Jones will collaborate with Hays in the coming weeks and months to prepare North Iredell for the transition this summer.

It was not made clear who would be replacing Jones after her departure from Central Elementary School in July.
