Iredell-Statesville Schools Superintendent Brady Johnson will retire at the end of his contract in June 2020. Johnson made the announcement during the school board meeting on Monday night.

Johnson has served in the school system for 40 years, according to the I-SS website, and is in his 10th year as superintendent. He is a native of Iredell County and graduate of South Iredell High School. He received his associate degree from Mitchell Community College in 1974, his Bachelor of Science in social studies from Appalachian State and later completed his Master of Arts in educational leadership from Gardner-Webb University.

He was a classroom teacher in I-SS and has served as an assistant principal, principal, deputy superintendent and, in 2009, was appointed superintendent of the system,
