Mooresville Graded School District will operate on a two-hour delay on Friday.
With continued rain in the forecast, the school system says it has opted for the delay.
“We feel this will give the roads adequate time to be clear of any standing water,” the district stated in an update. “With a two-hour delay, your child's bus will arrive approximately two hours after its regularly scheduled time, and the school bell will ring two hours after its regularly scheduled time.”
The students were released early on Thursday as well as roads flooded across the county.
“We know this was a frustrating day for some, but we do want you to know that we take these decisions very seriously,” the district stated. “We are charged with caring for, educating, and keeping 6,000 children safe, and we thank you for your understanding.”
