At Monday’s Iredell-Statesville Schools meeting, the board unanimously approved Dr. Carrie Tulbert as the new principal of Northview School. Tulbert assumed her role Wednesday.

Tulbert began her ISS career as a middle school English language arts teacher. She has also been an academically and intellectually gifted director and differentiation coach, assistant principal and principal at Mooresville Middle School and, most recently, principal at Concord Middle International Baccalaureate World School in Concord.

She was the North Carolina Principal of the Year in 2015.

“I am incredibly honored to have been given this opportunity to serve the community of Northview IB School,” she said in a news release. “Being a principal is a responsibility I take very seriously, and I absolutely love middle school kids. I am excited to return to Iredell-Statesville Schools, where I began my educational career in 2002 as a teacher. I am passionate about education, and I cannot wait to get started back ‘home.’"

Oliphant named principal of East Iredell Middle School

The board named Angel Oliphant principal of East Iredell Elementary School. She will assume her responsibilities effective April 22.

She most recently worked in Cabarrus County as the director of elementary curriculum, Title 1 and pre-K. She was previously the principal at Third Creek Elementary (2011-2016) and in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg school district as a teacher and administrator.

"I am thrilled to return back home to ISS as principal of East Iredell Elementary School,” she said, according to a news release. “We will continue the tradition of excellence that the students and staff have experienced for many years. I am excited for the opportunity to Learn, Lead, Love, and Serve the East Iredell community."
