Annual drive in progress to help children

James Henderson, Gerri Ceraolo and Kimberly Henderson with The Firm Real Estate hold some of the coats donated for their annual New Coats for Kids.

Making sure that all children in the Mooresville Graded School District have a warm coat is the goal of one business in downtown Mooresville.

Brokers/owners Gerri Ceraolo and Kimberly Henderson of The Firm Real Estate are working hard once again to make sure students in need have a new coat in time for the cold weather. For eight years, the pair has conducted a New Coats for Kids coat drive in partnership with the Mooresville Graded School District.

“Last year we donated 263 coats,” said Ceraolo, who also encouraged the community to help so they can meet the needs of the children in the local school system.

Those students needing the coats are selected by the schools,Ceraolo said, with donations of coats going to all of the schools in the district, serving 200-plus students.

In addition to the coats, The Firm Real Estate also donates other necessities including shoes, toiletries and additional clothing to meet student needs.

Those wishing to help with the coat drive may do so by Dec. 9 and may assist in one of two ways. One is by either giving a cash donation, with the average cost of a coat being $20; however, any amount would be appreciated.

Secondly, coats may also be purchased and brought to The Firm Real Estate office at 182 N. Main St., Mooresville. However, those buying a coat must call the office at 704-660-3476 prior to purchasing to get the gender and size of coat needed. Coats must be brand new with the tags still on them.

Delivery of the new coats and additional items are made to the schools prior to the Christmas break.
