“Keeping the Dream Alive through Songs and Praises” will be the theme of the 2020 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. commemorative birthday celebration presented by the Mooresville Chapter of Las Amigas Inc.
Scheduled for Jan. 18, the event will begin at 6 p.m. at Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church, 336 N. Broad St., Mooresville with the Rev. Kevin Little as master of ceremonies.
Sadie Thompson, program chair, and Betty Miller, local chapter president, and the members invite the community to attend this special event.
In a release from the Las Amigas chapter, it was noted, “we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. for his heroic leadership of the civil rights movement and ultimately gave his own life to the cause of equality. Our sponsorship of this program annually is to commemorate Dr. King’s dream and vision. Our focus is to keep his dream alive by making a difference in the lives of others through service. This year we honor him not only for his leadership of the civil rights movement, but to remember him as one of God’s chosen vessels to set his people free from racial injustice. Remember Dr. King and use the holiday to serve others.”
