A road rage incident led to a man being shot late Sunday morning.
Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell said the man was transported to Carolinas Medical Center for treatment but his condition was unknown as of Sunday afternoon.
ICSO Chief Deputy Andy Poteat said the man was in a vehicle with his wife and a juvenile when he passed a car on Fern Hill Road. The second vehicle then began tailgating the first car, Poteat said.
When both came to an intersection and stopped, the suspect threw a drink cup at the victim, Campbell said.
The victim then followed the suspect vehicle as it turned and they ended up in the 700 block of Cornelius Road, Poteat said. They pulled into a driveway and the victim got out and approached the suspect and the victim was shot, Poteat said. The suspect then fled the scene, he said.
The suspect vehicle is described as a Nissan Sentra-style car. The suspect was described as wearing orange-tinted glasses and he had facial hair.
This investigation is still ongoing and more details will likely be released later.
