The Mooresville Fire-Rescue water rescue team has been deployed to the coast for Hurricane Dorian.

Rescue groups from across the country are heading to the East Coast from Florida to North Carolina in preparation for the potential impact of the storm. As of Tuesday morning, a Hurricane Watch had been issued for coastal North Carolina.

Battalion Chief Jamie Barrier posted on his Facbook page that they had activation orders to Kinston, North Carolina. He added the following in his update:

"I will be serving as a Communication Unit Leader. I had the privilege to work with this group during Hurricane Florence. They were nothing short of spectacular. I look forward to serving the citizens of NC again. Please keep all involved in your prayers."
