The investigation into a recent shooting in Mooresville remains active.
Police Chief Ron Campurciani offered an update on Tuesday afternoon, reiterating that the Mooresville Police Department does not feel the public is in danger.
The shooting occurred on Fieldstone Road early Thursday evening. Shortly after 7 that night, officers were seeking a masked suspect.
A victim was taken to CMC with a serious gunshot wound in the abdomen, according to a Facebook post from the Mooresville Graded School District that evening.
On Friday, Campurciani issued a statement but offered few details. That mirrored Tuesday’s statement, where he pointed out he was limited in the information he can release because of the ongoing investigation.
“Although there is not much more I can add to my statement from Friday regarding the reported robbery/shooting on Fieldstone, I know that many questions and rumors are still circulating,” he said in the statement. “Since the investigation is still active I cannot provide specifics; however, I can add the victim has been released from the hospital and this was not a random act. Again, based on our investigation so far, the public is not in any danger.”
