The boys soccer teams at Statesville and West Iredell have third round playoff games Wednesday.

Statesville, seeded 14th in the 3A West, visits Boone for a showdown with No. 6 seed Watauga (17-5-1). West Iredell, seeded 23rd in the 2A West, travels to Lenoir for a 6 p.m. game against fellow Northwestern Foothills Conference member Hibriten (23-1-2). The Panthers are seeded second.

The Greyhounds (13-7-2) stunned No. 3 seed T.C. Roberson (19-3) in Asheville on Saturday. Edgar Arroyo and Colby Collins each scored a goal in the 2-1 victory. Landon Wilhelm and Jamie Woodard picked up assists, and Sam Buckner made eight saves in goal.

The Warriors (12-9-2) downed Winston-Salem Carver 3-1 in the second round Friday night. Ben Guzman scored two first half goals assisted by Manuel Meza.

West Iredell and Hibriten played twice this season. The meeting at Hibriten ended in a 3-3 tie. The Panthers won 1-0 at West Iredell.

NWFC recognition

The Northwestern Foothills Conference has released its all-conference teams for volleyball, girls golf and girls tennis.

Members of the all-conference volleyball team from West Iredell included Addison Gallyon, Reese Holland and Savannah Laws, with Kairah Yang receiving honorable mention. Gallyon was also named to the NWFC all-tournament team.

West Iredell’s Kennedy Gaulding made the all-conference girls golf team, and the Warriors’ Andria Lesley was named to the all-conference girls tennis team.
