DAVIDSON Ruth Chambers Ervin, 81, of Davidson, passed away Thursday, Aug. 8, 2019, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis. She was born July 30, 1938, in Biltmore, to the late John Lonnie Chambers and Dixie Greenwood Chambers. She spent most of her life as a pianist and organist in the church. Mrs. Ervin worked for Piedmont Bank in Mooresville, which eventually became Wells Fargo. She also worked for Davidson College and Converse College in admissions. Mrs. Ervin was an active member of Kannapolis Church of God. She loved to read and to travel; especially to the Holy Land. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ashley Ervin. She is survived by her husband, Jerry Franklin Ervin; sons, Shawn Ervin and wife, Becky, Chris Ervin and wife, Cathy; grandson, Brooks Ervin; and stepgranddaughters, Halle, Emma, and Lauren Hinkle. The family will receive friends today, Sunday, Aug. 11, from 1 to 3 p.m., at Kannapolis Church of God. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m., at the church, with the Revs. Greg Sloop, Lawrence Owensby, and Don Whichard officiating. Burial will follow the service at Glenwood Memorial Park in Mooresville.
