Mary "Lib" Johnston MOORESVILLE Mary Elizabeth "Lib" Brown Johnston, 95, of Mooresville, passed away at Gordon Hospice House of Statesville, Saturday, June 22, 2019. Mrs. Johnston was born Aug. 24, 1923, and was retired from Cannon Mills. She was a member of Coddle Creek Associate Reform Presbyterian Church of Mooresville where she was active in the Women of the Church for many years prior to succumbing to a long-term illness. She loved her family, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much. She was preceded in death by her husband, Morris Graham Johnston; and four brothers, Bob, Bill and Linn Brown, all of Kannapolis and Harold Brown of Landis. She is survived by her two sons, Michael G. Johnston (Brenda), of Mooresville, and Donald Linn Johnston, of Mooresville; four sisters, Mabel Brown Morgan, Nell Brown Seaford, Rachel Brown Richie, Peggy Brown Smith; one brother, Gene Brown (Phyllis), all of Kannapolis; three grandchildren, Melissa Johnston Barrett, of Mooresville, Kristie Johnston Hammonds (Chad), of Gate City, Va., and Major Michael G. Johnston Jr. (Danielle), of Annapolis Junction, Md.; great-grandchildren, Benjamin Johnston Barrett, Andrew Wesley Barrett, Ashlyn Brooke Hammonds, and Kinslee Grace Hammonds. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, June 27, at Coddle Creek Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church with burial held prior to the service, in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gordon Hospice House, 2341 Simonton Rd., Statesville, NC 28625; Coddle Creek ARP Church, 2297 Coddle Creek Hwy, Mooresville, NC 28115.
