Tucker, Elizabeth "Carolyn" Brannon

MOORESVILLE Elizabeth "Carolyn" Brannon Tucker, 73, passed away peacefully and went to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, May 17, 2019. Carolyn is survived by her two daughters, Karen Tucker Thayer and husband, Andrew, of Charlotte; Sharon Tucker Crawford and husband, Nick, of Mooresville; their father, Michael J. Tucker of Statesville; and her brother, Mike Brannon of Satellite Beach, Fla. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Iola Brannon. Carolyn was born Aug. 25, 1945, and grew up in Dorchester, S.C., near Charleston. Her father's work with NASA took the family to Florida when she was 13. She graduated from Satellite High School in Satellite Beach, Fla., and later obtained a bachelor's degree in early childhood education from Francis Marion College. Carolyn taught language arts at Mocksville Middle School and later at East Iredell Middle School where she finished her 25-year teaching career. She treasured working with students and was dedicated to their success. Carolyn had a love for animals, and also loved gardening, dancing, and traveling. She enjoyed many trips with Karen and Sharon in recent years, and Charleston was a favorite and frequent destination. Carolyn loved helping others and she had a kind and giving heart. Carolyn shared her gifts and natural abilities by serving at the Cove Church where she was a member for many years. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, May 23, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., at Ingram Funeral Home in Mooresville. A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 24, at Fieldstone Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow at Glenwood Memorial Park. Memorials can be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Rd., Statesville, NC 28625. The family is grateful for the care and support provided to Carolyn by Autumn Care of Cornelius and Hospice of Iredell. Ingram Funeral Home is serving the family.
