Let freedom ring! And let it show, too.
Members of the Southern Collegiate Baseball League-member Mooresville Spinners were decked out in just such attire for their pre-July Fourth appearance.
Donning specially-designed team jerseys and hats for a one-time wearing during an Independence Day-eve game against the fellow SCBL member Concord Athletics, members of the Spinners sit field-side while watching the action unfold at Moor Park field.
The red-white-and-blue colored jersey came complete with the presence of stars and stripes to mark the special date. To cap the ceremony, the Spinners defeated the A’s, 14-3, to open an extended holiday weekend homestand.
With all proceeds designated to benefit the Welcome Home Warriors organization, a post-game auction of the worn attire took place with the highest-valued team jersey sold for a $750 bid. The Spinners continue their current stretch of home games when hosting the SCBL-member Charlotte Crushers Monday night.
