It was almost all entirely feasting by Lake Norman’s wrestling team.
The Wildcats polished off the hosting of a four-team affair by capturing wins in two of their three bouts and wins in each of their five scheduled on-mat appearances. This was while serving as the home team of the annual Thanksgiving at the Lake involving teams from as many as three different states.
Lake Norman banked wins by scores of 47-30 over Charlotte Latin and 59-15 against York Comprehensive to surround a 45-30 defeat dropped against River Bluff.
Just one day later a total of nine additional teams with ties to North Carolina as well as both South Carolina and Georgia joined the event. The Wildcats wound up being just as successful as any other of the total of 10 entries in the field with wins in all five of their one-day matches.
The Wildcats clocked in with wins by scores of 39-34 over Cardinal Gibbons, 38-32 against Central Academy of Technology & Arts, 65-18 against Georgia’s Harrison High, 41-33 over St. Stephens and 61-18 against South Carolina’s Woodmont High.
Other teams in attendance included Apex Friendship, Charlotte Catholic, Nation’s Ford and West Charlotte.
To show for the full two days’ worth of wrestling by the Wildcats, they fashioned an overall 7-1 mark for their efforts which also drew the pre-Thanksgiving portion of scheduled action to a close.
In addition to the team success, a selection of individual wrestlers enjoyed similar success.
The Wildcats cast consisting of Jeremiah Garcia at 106 pounds, Andrew Downum at 113 pounds and Kaiden Fisher competing within both the 120-pound and 126-pound class ranks all crafted matching 3-0 individual records.
Also for the quad hosts, multiple winners emerged such asf J.T. Richards at both 126 and 132 pounds, Hayden Fann at 138 pounds, Timmy Kennett at 145 pounds, Carson Floyd at 170 pounds, Cooper Marcy at 182 pounds, and Nyjel Goss at 220 pounds.
Showing limited wear and tear despite returning to the mats just one day later, a number of Wildcats made sure to make their particular presence throughout.
That was especially the case for roster member Floyd, who triumphed in each of his five matches held at the 170-pound class ranks.
Also for the Wildcats, the crew of 145-pounder Kennett, 220-pounder Caleb Tate and heavyweight entry Alex Baker logged in with four wins each.
Additional multiple-match victors for the Wildcats included Garcia, Downum, Brody Neal at 120 pounds, Fisher, Zach Foster at both 126 and 132 pounds, Bradley Wilson at 182 pounds and Marcy.
Welcoming rest following the rash of pre-holiday action, Lake Norman returns to the mat to host Charlotte Providence, Elkin and Salisbury for a four-team affair set to take place Wednesday night.
