That may well be what it takes when it comes to keeping track of local baseball talent in place on a number of local summer college-level league wooden bat teams participating at a couple of levels.

The Mooresville Spinners and Statesville Owls, each of them current counterparts competing within the same Southern Collegiate Baseball League, as well as the independent-member Race City Bootleggers, all consist of a limited amount of locally-produced players on their respective rosters.

Both the Spinners, reigning SCBL postseason tournament champions, and the Bootleggers, serving as a feeder squad for the parent organization, engage in their home games on the same Moor Park facility in Mooresville.

The Statesville Owls, operating for the first time as a SCBL entry after previously spending time as an independent, conduct all of their home games at West Iredell High School baseball field.

At various times throughout the season, games taking place between all three of the teams are scheduled to take place.

The trio of hometown products filling positions on the Mooresville Spinners line-up card, complete with their current college program connections, consists of: J.P Perez, UNC Asheville; Isiah Nino, Mars Hills College; and Anthony Palma, Macalester College.

From the Bootleggers, area-based participants include: Justin Poris, undecided; Davis Turner, Lenoir-Rhyne University; Jackson Reid, Lenoir-Rhyne University; Zack Zarybnicky, Caldwell Community College; Gage Smith, Mars Hill College; Vance Anderson, Stetson University; Casey Zarybnicky, Caldwell Community College; Brady Tucker, undecided; and Carter Sheppard, High Point University.

From the Statesville Owls: Jamieson Eichacker, Erskine College.

Play for all teams is well underway. Regular season games for all continue through the months of June and July. Qualifying teams will then advance into the postseason that also gets underway in late July.

Schedules for all teams can be found on their respective team online websites.
