Wrapped up with wins, Mooresville 106-pound class entry Greg Merriman is among the five members of the Blue Devils to fashion an undefeated record during the Blue Devils triumph in a quad-team field.

Takedowns times three.

Mooresville High School’s wrestling team posted positive performances in all three of its appearances to fashion the lone undefeated record among the four teams in the Cox Mill Quads.

Fueled by the matching identical 3-0 marks managed by a handful of members of the Blue Devils on an individual basis, the Devils surfaced with wins by scores of 40-34 over Bunker Hill, 52-27 against Wheatmore High and 57-17 opposite Cox Mill.

The outcomes allowed Mooresville to also remain unbeaten for the season overall in each of its respective dual-team bouts upon heading back into action in preparation for the beginning of pivotal I-Meck Conference competition.

At the Cox Mill Quads, a half dozen members of the Blue Devils’ roster collected wins in all of their outings to help strengthen the team’s power push.

The cast of Greg Merriman at 106 pounds, Davis Freeze at 113 pounds, Samson Sokolski at 120 pounds, Weston Weddington at 145 pounds, and Luke Goodin at 160 pounds all each emerged with a trio of wins and no defeats to boost the showing.

Adding to the charge, the crew of Isaiah Lane at 132 pounds, Desmond Jackson at 182 pounds, Amere Johnson at 195 pounds, Ray Watson at 220 pounds and Austyn Barton at 285 pounds/heavyweight all earned multiple wins apiece.

In the win over Bunker Hill, wins picked up by Merriman, Freeze, Sokolski, Lane, Weddington, Goodin, Barton and Timothy Deery at 126 pounds, sealed the decision.

Against Wheatmore, favorable outcomes locked up by Merriman, Freeze, Sokolski, Weddington, Goodin, Jackson, Johnson, Watson and Barton joined the one secured by Bobby King at 152 pounds to account for the final winning spread.

And winning ways put forth by Merriman, Freeze, Sokolski, Lane, Weddington, Goodin, Jackson, Johnson, Watson and Barton joined ranks with teammate Elijah Elizondo at 138 pounds to help earn the victory over Cox Mill.

Mooresville headed back into action slated to form the field for the annual Iredell Classic taking place at St. Stephens, This is the Blue Devils’ final appearance before christening defense of their I-Meck title later this week.{/div}
