No other set of teammates fared better out on the fairway than one hailing from Mooresville.

The twosome of Pine Lake Prep‘s Parker Mizelle and Justin Guilford logged in placements higher than any other same-team pair not on the rosters of any of the class champions following the 36-hole stroke play.

Mizelle posted consecutive as well as consistent scores of 77-77, for a 154-stroke total during his appearance in the NCHSAA’s 1A title event held at Pinehurst Country Club’s No. 6 course. Mizelle carded an outright fifth-place finish in the field to for the highest-such finish of any other Iredell County golfer in any of the state finals.

Guilford was very nearly just as steady after registering rounds of 78-79, for a 157 total that landed him in a two-way tie for seventh-place overall.

The finishes by the Pride pair were the best among all teams that did not capture classification state titles.

At the state’s 2A ranks, a pair of players from Lincoln Charter logged in with a third-place finish and a seventh-place finish to help lead the team to the title.

In the 3A class, Charlotte Catholic players shared second and also chimed in seventh to highlight its run to the championship.

No other set of teammates put up any better combined effort.

In the 4A contest, held at Pinehurst CC’s No. 89 course, Lake Norman’s Ryan Lux clocked in with rounds of 81-90 for a 171-stroke total that was good for a share of 75th place overall.
