Playing hard to get, a floored Pine Lake Prep’s Triniti Lockhart tries to pry possession of the basketball away from a Northwest Cabarrus opponent during the course of the Pride’s season-opening appearance.

One to grow on.

Pine Lake Prep’s girls varsity basketball team certainly hopes that will be the case following its season-opening appearance.

The Pride played host to non-conference foe Northwest Cabarrus in what was designated as an endowment affair and was limited offensively in the dropping a 61-23 decision.

The verdict was rendered in what was also Pine Lake’s only game on tap during the month of November.

As a result, the Pride will head into December owning the 0-1 record.

Making its debut at home opposite a Northwest Cabarrus entry already having previously engaged in early season play, Pine Lake was held to single digits during each of its four periods of play to gradually lose ground over the course of them all.

The Pride faced a 31-9 deficit at the intermission break and continued to fall off the pace during the final two frames as well. The outcome was delivered in the first of the two games on tap between the two teams to constitute the home-and-home series set.

No additional individual information was available.

Pine Lake will look to learn from its opener when waiting out the extended Thanksgiving holiday break before returning to the court to by traveling to take on Charlotte Latin Dec. 3.
